On Tuesday, December 5th, the Minister of Education, and Chairman of the Council for Higher Education, Mr. Yoav Kisch, announced that the establishment of the University of the Galilee will proceed according to the governmental plan initiated by his predecessor, Dr. Yifat Shasha-Biton: to transform Tel-Hai College into the University of the Galilee in the city of Kiryat Shmona, based on Tel-Hai College and the Migal - Galilee Research Institute.

This is an historic moment for Tel-Hai, and for the entire Northern region. We are proud to bear witness to this decision during this critical moment in time. We are prepared to implement the decision and meet all the necessary requirements.

Tel-Hai College is a beacon of resilience and serves as a major catalyst for regional and economic development through close relations with all its surrounding communities, industries, and educational and health institutions throughout the Galilee. Today, more than ever, is the need for a powerful engine of growth and development evident for strengthening the city of Kiryat Shmona and the northern region as a whole. One that will enable the return of the residents of the Galilee and attract many more - new researchers, students and young families from all over the country and abroad.

Together with the local authorities, organizations and partners, the University of the Galilee will be an anchor of stability for the region, and a catalyst for growth in all areas of life, facilitating the renewal and recovery of the north.
