The education system sees great importance in deepening Jewish studies, understanding that this study will strengthen the students' Jewish identity. The assumption is that establishing this identity will increase the student's sense of responsibility and commitment to society and the country. This goal underlies the curriculum of the Jewish Studies Program.
Judaism instruction is studied as part of a dual track: special education combined with another course of study.
The duration of studies in the department is only 3 years and at the end of it, the graduates will be entitled to a bachelor's degree in special education and a teaching certificate with two specializations: special education and Judaism.
The studies in the program are based on conceiving the term "Judaism" as one that encompasses the entire Jewish creation through the generations, from the Bible to the present day, which is characterized by a wide variety of approaches and concepts. The
Jewish creation is based on a dual dialogue: a dialogue with previous generations and a dialogue with the surrounding non-Jewish cultures.
The goal of the program is to introduce the students to the scope of Jewish creation, to encourage them to expand their horizons and broaden their knowledge in fields that are relevant to their teaching areas and their educational role in public and religious state schools. Priority is given to biblical studies, which is the main field taught in the education system. They will also study courses in Oral Torah, Jewish philosophy and topics that demonstrate the intergenerational Jewish dialogue. The program provides tools for understanding the language, the content, and the ability to deal with the texts in each of the fields of knowledge as well as tools that will enable them to transfer this knowledge to their students. Thus, alongside the broad knowledge in the fields of knowledge, the students will be familiar with the content required according to the curriculum of the Ministry of Education. The program will train the future teachers to combine the subjects of study so that they can create an intriguing and intellectually and experientially challenging space for their students, in which they will be able to learn the many layers and attitudes of their heritage and will also consolidate their Jewish identity.
In addition, the intention is that students who undergo the training will be able to access other texts that they have not encountered in their studies related to each of the fields of knowledge. Finally, the students will be required to write a seminar paper that reflects the knowledge they have acquired in the various fields of knowledge.

For many, living in the State of Israel is the basis of their Jewish identity. Life in the country introduces us to the Jewish culture, customs, holidays, ideas and religious practices. But this identity is basic and must be deepened and strengthened. The study of Jewish subjects in the educational system plays an important role in deepening the roots and foundations of Jewish identity.
The main work studied in the education system is the Bible. Studying the Bible contributes a lot to knowing the roots of the people and their connection to the land. The books of the Bible reveal to us the world of ideas and commandments of our ancestors thousands of years ago. The Bible is the basis for the existence and destiny of the Jewish people.
Along with studying the Bible, one should become familiar with Rabbinic literature. This literature represents a significant stage in the shaping of Judaism without which it is difficult to understand the gaps between the biblical world and the halachic Judaism we know today. In addition, the world of ideas of Rabbinic literature is a significant pillar of Jewish culture.
In addition to these two areas, studying Jewish philosophy is also important for deepening Jewish identity. This study introduces us to the world of ideas that evolved over the years, from the time of the Bible to the present day. This development was based on a dual dialogue: on the one hand, a dialogue with the previous generations and on the other, a dialogue with the world outside of Judaism. To understand the world of ideas of the current era, one must know the stages that preceded it.
These three areas are taught as part of the Jewish studies program at the Tel Hai Campus for Innovation in Education and Teaching. The students studying in the program acquire the knowledge that helps them deepen and strengthen their Jewish identity. They pass this knowledge on to their students in the education system. We believe that deepening Jewish identity leads to commitment and caring towards the people and the country. This commitment leads to taking responsibility that will make the society we live in a better one.
