The Department of Psychology has a strong research orientation, focusing on the foundational models of the different fields of psychology, and the range of scientific approaches accepted in contemporary psychology research. Students are involved in research projects from their first year of studies.
Studies include a practicum in a therapeutic-educational framework for practical learning and accumulating experience. Students use physiological, cognitive and developmental laboratories for analyzing and understanding psychological processes. The style of academic/research-based learning is intended to develop open minded, knowledgeable young graduates that will continue on to advanced studies in the leading universities and research institutes in the country and overseas. We also focus on helping our students succeed in the national entrance exam for Master’s degree programs in psychology (the MATAM exam).
Graduates may assume positions such as counselors in educational and mental health institutions, human resources directors of organizations, social science and psychology teachers in high schools, and research assistants.

Tel-Hai Academic College's Department of Psychology is dedicated to educating emerging psychologists. The department strives to provide comprehensive theoretical knowledge alongside practical skills and tools, fostering research in diverse psychology fields and their practical applications. Through scientific research, department members contribute to the expansion of psychological knowledge by employing a variety of research approaches and methods across different fields.
The Bachelor's degree program is structured to provide a comprehensive education in psychology, placing a distinctive emphasis on research exposure. This includes coursework, participation in the department's research labs, and involvement in community action initiatives. Within the Bachelor's degree, students can opt for either a single-major or dual-major track combined with education, human services, East Asia, multidisciplinary studies, economics, and computers.
A recent addition to our Bachelor's program is the "brain and consciousness excellence track" specifically designed for outstanding students. This track aims to redefine the knowledge base conferred upon psychology graduates, aligning it with the evolving landscape of the psychological field. Given the significant impact of computer science and brain research on psychology, educating students with profound knowledge of the core domains of exact sciences is essential, complemented by crucial insights from the humanities.
At the Department of Psychology, we are firm believers in the distinctive atmosphere of the Tel-Hai campus, fostering excellence in teaching. Our approach involves presenting and discussing theoretical frameworks, models, and significant breakthroughs in various psychology domains such as developmental, clinical, brain research, cognitive, social, neuropsychological, and behavioral studies. Beyond the course content, students actively engage in research throughout their studies, gaining hands-on experience in laboratory and field research as research assistants. Ultimately, they undergo the process of independently conducting research, enriching their overall academic journey.
We aim to educate and equip the next generation of researchers and professional psychologists. This involves providing a solid psychological foundation in undergraduate studies and further refining their skills in the master's degree program, which integrates theoretical studies with practical experience and tutorials. Program graduates will likely develop expertise and excel in applying the acquired tools through hands-on field studies.
Within the Department of Psychology, our aim extends beyond academic proficiency to encompass ethical excellence, preparing our graduates to be influential contributors to society. We envision our graduates, fueled by curiosity and the skills acquired during their degree studies, leading transformative changes and actively contributing to advancing values such as equality, diversity, and tolerance within the realm of psychology societies.
