The Drama Therapy Graduate Program at Tel-Hai College is a prestigious program that has evolved from Prof. Mooli Lahad’s pioneering work in Israel, which began in 1989.
The program acquaints students with cutting-edge theory and practice in drama therapy, and provides advanced tools to develop their clinical abilities and skills. Students undergo intense training, focusing on clinical skills, receiving supervision in small groups, and specialized academic courses, workshops and masterclasses. They are also required to enroll for a third year of additional training and supervision of their clinical practice.
The program integrates the basic principles of behavioral sciences and psychotherapy with the human need for expression, action, and creativity.

The drama therapy program at Tel Hai College is very old, in fact in 1988 the Institute for Drama Therapy Studies was established as part of foreign studies and for many years was the only place in Israel that qualified for this profession.
Drama therapy uses techniques, concepts, and theories from the world of drama and theater for the purposes of emotional and preventive treatment. Compared to psychodrama, which uses theatrical tools in a very specific way, drama therapy is supported by a variety of creative avenues, such as the use of stories and plays, voice and movement work, games, creations, puppets, miniatures, and a variety of other projective tools - all from a combination of arts and psychology.
The use of drama therapy is not limited by age or background, culture, or therapeutic space, which allows our graduates to work in therapeutic and rehabilitation settings of all kinds: education systems/welfare/mental health/rehabilitation/health and mental health, and now also in executive development.
The program in Tel Hai emphasizes the clinical aspect of the profession and the personal and professional development of the students. The program is based on the concept that the drama therapy profession requires readiness and mental maturity as well as creativity and openness.
The uniqueness of the program at Tel Hai is also due to the proximity to the border, since the days of the institute and today when we teach for a master's degree, the students learn to treat mental trauma from a personal and group perspective.
