Tel-Hai College believes in aiding and encouraging people to communicate their emotions and thoughts in new ways that can improve the quality of their lives. The goal of any art therapy school is to provide the tools and knowledge to see patients through the creative process and expression.
The program at Tel-Hai College emphasizes engagement within social and cultural contexts, and the exploration of the benefits of art therapy in the world of healthcare, education and psychiatric facilities. The program cultivates influential, compassionate professionals who are engaged with the social and cultural contexts of healing through the creation of art.
As part of their educational process, art therapy students are expected to be fully engaged in the intellectual dimensions of art therapy theory, research and philosophy. The program is designed to meet the standards for post-graduation application and certification as well as the academic requirements for licensing guidelines in the state of Israel.

Art therapy is a specialized integrative clinical mental health profession that combines psychological treatment with artmaking. The creative processes and the art materials enable self-expression, interpersonal communication, and processes of transformation and growth within the framework of a therapeutic relationship.
Art therapy is suitable for individuals, groups, families and communities in a range of settings including mental health centers, schools, hospitals, boarding schools, and elsewhere.
Art therapy can respond to the pressing needs of communities experiencing trauma and crisis through art-based interventions, as is the case in Israel today.
As part of the art therapy curriculum, students explore the arts as a form of self- expression and self-knowledge. The courses enable students to experience the artistic processes as a meaningful mode of expression that cannot be captured in words. The program covers theory, art-based experiential processes, field work and exposure to clinical material, thus enabling self-development and growth. The art therapy graduate program staff are all experienced clinicians with extensive backgrounds in clinical practice, teaching, and art therapy supervision, and include some of the leading researchers in the field of art therapy worldwide.
The program at Tel Hai emphasizes the clinical aspects of the profession and the student’s personal and professional development. The program is based on the conviction that the art therapy profession requires mental maturity, reflectivity and devotion to learning, as well as creativity and openness to new experiences. The program is characterized by high-level learning, based on theory and practice within a positive and supportive personal atmosphere.
I invite all of you who are interested in the intersection of art and creativity and would like to engage in a therapeutic profession to apply for the program.
